Turn off power at the disconnect AND the breaker before landfall. Cover the unit with a fitted hurricane cover or weighted tarp. Clear all loose yard items within 30 feet. After the storm, inspect for flooding and damage before restoring power.

If the unit was submerged, do NOT power it on water damaged compressors and motors need professional assessment first.
