Standard manufacturer warranty is 10 years parts when you register within 60 90 days of install. Skip registration and you drop to 5 years. Labor is usually only 1 year unless you buy an extended labor warranty ($300–$800).

What’s NOT covered: refrigerant, filters, capacitors after year 1 (on some brands), damage from improper install, and anything affected by skipped maintenance. Keep your tune up records.
