Indoor air quality is harder in Florida than almost anywhere else in the country. The same humidity that makes our summers brutal feeds mold and bacteria on the evaporator coil year round, and the tight envelopes of newer construction trap volatile organic compounds, cooking byproducts and pet dander indoors. The 1 inch fiberglass filter that came with your system was never going to handle that.

Our IAQ approach is layered, because no single product solves it all. First, mechanical filtration: a 4 inch MERV 13 or MERV 16 media filter (in a properly sized cabinet so it doesn’t choke the blower) catches particulate down to the bacterial scale. Second, UV C germicidal lights at the evaporator coil sterilize the surface where biofilm wants to grow eliminating the ‘dirty sock’ smell at the source. Third, active humidity control: a properly sized variable speed system or, on larger homes, a dedicated whole home dehumidifier holds the home below 55% RH year round.

We design the IAQ system to match the house and the people in it. Homes with asthma or allergies get the MERV 16 + UV + dehumidifier package; homes with mostly comfort concerns get the MERV 13 + UV combo. We measure indoor RH and particulate counts before and after install so you can see the difference, not just take our word for it.
